Holy Family Hospital & Medical Center
Methuen, MA
THE PROBLEM
The primary problem was water hammer noise from poor steam trap design and application. Steam was also venting from condensate receivers resulting in back pressure in the steam system as well as wasted energy.
THE SOLUTION

Conservation Solutions Corporationcompleted a detailed study of the steam “system” including the steam traps throughout the Holy Family Hospital and recommended a long-term solution to the on-going steam trap problems the Hospital was experiencing. The SteamLoc® Orifice Steam Traps in conjunction with some high performance mechanical steam traps were installed over a period of 8 years. Conservation Solutions Corporation staff provided steam “system” troubleshooting recommendations to specific Hospital staff problems. Steam venting from the condensate receiver was stopped. Over 1000 steam traps were changed, including equipment with varying loads such as Heat Exchangers, Air Handlers, Radiators and Domestic Hot Water Heaters.
