THE PROBLEM
Steam was venting from condensate receivers resulting in back pressurein the steam system as well as wasted energy. The staff and patients were struggling with overheating or cold zones, The Laundry was very hot and using significant amounts of energy and water.
THE SOLUTION

Conservation Solutions Corporation completed a detailed study of the steam “system” and Laundry. The study including steam traps, valves, insulation, equipment piping problems, troubleshooting problems and the laundry. The SteamLoc® Orifice Steam Traps in conjunction with some high performance Velan Bi-Metallic mechanical steam traps as well as the ISTEC thermostatic radiator valves were recommended and installed. After the installation was completed all trap were tested and found to be performing. Steam venting from the condensate receiver was stopped. 736 steam traps were changed, including equipment with varying loads such as Heat Exchangers, Air Handlers, Radiators and Domestic Hot Water Heaters. An Ozone System was installed in the Laundry reducing energy use by over 90% and water and sewer costs by approximately 21%
